Here is another inspiring design from the AD Home Design show this year. It too was part of the “table viewing” sponsored by DIFFA’s DINING BY DESIGN. Orange sure was popular at the show!
Isn’t this amazing? Look at the bright focal wall with all those colorful plates! I can see decorating with this idea on a porch or a small dining room wall!
The plates do not have to be expensive if you shop yard sales, Craigslist or eBay. Light can be washed over the wall by a few small uplight floor lamps or track lighting from the ceiling.
The round table can be painted, or even covered with a white floor length table cloth. If you aren’t using coordinating garden stools, try simple wooden or metal chairs that you spray with a glossy paint to match the wall color. If you are renting, the wall can be papered with one of the new peel off wallpapers.
Look closely at the lighting. That is not a chandelier! It is a very tall glass tube with a huge barrel shade designed to be above the heads of the sitting diners. It must be attached to the round disk at its base, and perhaps weighted in part by the flower pots. This would be an impressive way to make up for a lack of a chandelier or electricity source in a ceiling. Or if you can’t find a lamp like that and aren’t creative enough to construct one yourself, you can hang a shade light from a hook on the ceiling and have the cord go down a wall to an outlet.
And finally admire the the place setting. A simple “organic” charger topped by coordinating plates with lots of gold accents to work with the shimmery gold in the fun and fancy goblets. A coordinating napkin peaks out between the plates. I notice there are no utensils. My choice would be to use the new gold colored utensils that are on the market.
